Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Mi 11 flagship phone will launch with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. At the Qualcomm 2020 summit, Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi said that the Mi 11 will be among the first smartphones to rock the new Snapdragon 888 SoC. The flagship processor is set to power high-end Android phones in 2021 and Xiaomi is one of the first brands to use the chipset while other names include Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, and more. The Mi 11 powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset is yet to get a launch date, but the phone is tipped to launch in January 2021. Snapdragon 888 SoC succeeds the Snapdragon 865 chipset and features a new third-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem for 5G mmWave and sub-6 across all major telcos worldwide. The chipset also highlights upgraded Adreno GPU, 144Hz refresh rate support, 6th-gen Qualcomm AI engine, and faster image processing.
“Snapdragon 888 is the most powerful mobile platform from Qualcomm Technologies ever,” said Lei Jun. “In addition to the industry-leading 5G connectivity, it has brought groundbreaking breakthroughs and innovations in AI, gaming, and cameras. I’m glad that our new flagship smartphone Mi11 will be one of the first devices with Snapdragon 888. This is another cutting-edge product from us and will be loaded with various hardcore technologies.”
