Highlights
  • Huawei P50 series launch could be between March 26th to 28th
  • The lineup may include the Huawei P50, P50 Pro, and P50 Pro+
  • Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pro+ will feature the Kirin 9000 chipset

Huawei’s upcoming Huawei P50 line of flagship smartphones could be arriving soon, according to a new leak. The information comes from Twitter user @RODENT950who states that the designs have been finalised. The Huawei P50 series will likely go into mass production soon with a ‘new’ design and are slated to be launched in the last week of March 2021. Like always, it will aim to better its predecessor’s imaging capabilities. Other improvements in the Huawei P50 series include a better screen and better gaming capabilities. This falls in line with a report from last year which suggested that Huawei would stick to its launch cycle and launch the Huawei P50 series in H1 2021.

The leaker also adds that there will be three Huawei P50-series smartphones upon launch. The entry-level Huawei P50 will run a (slightly) watered-down Kirin 9000E chipset. Whereas, the Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pro+ will run a Kirin 9000, the same chipset that powered the Huawei Mate 40 series. Usually, Huawei would use this opportunity to debut a new Kirin SoC, but it cannot do so due so anymore due to U.S. Government sanctions.

We know very little about what Huawei has in store for us with the Huawei P50 series. In all likelihood, we’re probably looking at a marginally better version of the Huawei Mate 40 series. Availability will be fairly limited too, with a lion’s share of the stock reserved for the Chinese market. The chances of Huawei launching the Huawei P50 series in India are quite low.
