Highlights
  • Mi Watch Lite has received BIS certification, indicating that it could be launched in India soon
  • The Mi Watch Lite is essentially a rebranded Redmi Watch
  • Some key Mi Watch Lite specifications are 1.4-inch screen, 230mAh battery, 11 dedicated sports modes, heart rate sensor, and sleep tracker

Xiaomi slyly unveiled the Mi Watch Lite in December 2020, which is essentially the Redmi Watch with a fresh coat of paint. However, there was no word about the Mi Watch Lite India launch date at the moment. We can expect that to happen soon as the smartwatch just received BIS certification, which is necessary for any device launching in India. It was spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma aka Stufflistings on Twitter. Given that it is a low-cost alternative to the better-specced Mi Watch, we can expect it to be launched alongside an upcoming Xiaomi-branded smartphone, maybe even the highly-anticipated Redmi Note 10 series.

Mi Watch Lite specifications and features

The Mi Watch Lite comes with a square-shaped 1.4-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and 323ppi pixel density. It is protected by a layer of 2.5D glass. The smartwatch comes with a dedicated heart rate sensor that also doubles up as a sleep quality tracker. A SpO2 sensor is missing, but that is understandable given the wearable’s cost. Xiaomi claims that the Mi Watch Lite can last nine days on a single charge thanks to its 230mAh battery.

The Mi Watch Lite comes with 11 sports modes that include outdoor running, indoor running, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, walking, and swimming to free activities. These features pair well with the smartwatch’s high-precision six-axis sensor with a motion algorithm. It is also 5ATM water-resistant, allowing you to take it for a swim. Users can also use the Mi Watch Lite to answer phone calls, reply to texts, get alerted about notifications, and control music.
