It is MIL-STD 810G certified, indicating that it is ideal for use in extreme environments where regular smartphones would fail. Furthermore, the LG K42 will also come with two years of extended warranty that includes a one-time screen replacement for no additional cost. The LG K42 also comes with walkie-talkie functionality via the press of a button, a feature that could come in handy when unlocking your phone to make a phone call/text is not viable. LG claims that the LG K42 provides a stable grip with unique wave patterns and a UV coating, making it less susceptible to scratches.

LG K42 price in India

The LG K42 comes with a fairly affordable price tag of Rs 10,990. It will be available for sale on Flipkart starting January 26th in two colours, green and grey. There appears to be only one configuration of the smartphone: 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

LG K42 specifications

While the LG K42 is tailor-made for rough and tough use, the actual device comes with fairly underpowered hardware. For starters, it is powered by an underwhelming MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) chipset. The smartphone’s 6.6-inch HD+ display is interrupted by a waterdrop-style notch that houses its 8MP selfie camera.

At the rear, the LG K42 gets four camera modules: a 13MP primary sensor, 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Its 4,000mAh battery can be charged via a USB Type-C port. Wireless connectivity options include 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Lastly, the LG K42 also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a dedicated Google Assistant button. The smartphone is 8.4mm thick and weighs 184 grams.

While the LG K42 specifications are clearly underwhelming, it fills the gap for a rugged and durable smartphone in the burgeoning budget segment of the Indian smartphone market.
