OnePlus 9 series, which is expected to launch in March 2021, will not feature a periscope lens on any of the models, according to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station. While the leaked renders didn’t show that any of the models featured a periscope lens, the nod from this well-known and reliable tipster seemingly confirms that OnePlus will be opting out of this popular camera feature that is already present on flagship offerings from Huawei, Xiaomi, Samsung, OPPO, Realme, etc. For those of you who are unaware, the periscope lens is used in smartphones to offer enhanced optic zoom capabilities, which opens up a lot of photography opportunities as well.

Considering that the periscope lens has exclusively been used on the top-of-the-line flagship models from the brands till now, it should not come as a surprise that its implementation could drive up the cost of manufacturing. As OnePlus has built its brand from the ground-up by offering value-for-money devices, the exclusion of such a luxurious feature does make business sense.
