Mi 11 launch might be happening much sooner than we initially thought. Qualcomm’s recently unveiled Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform has been confirmed to power several upcoming Android flagships and Mi 11 been confirmed to be the first handset to feature this mobile platform. While it was initially reported the flagship may debut in January, now well-known tipster Ice Universe has claimed the Mi 11 will launch by the end of this month, which will be far earlier than Xiaomi’s usual February launch cycle. The company is said to have sent Mi 11 for network certification, suggesting the launch isn’t far away. The tipster also claims the flagship will come with a screen design that is curved from all four sides.
Earlier reports have claimed the Mi 11 will have a Quad HD+ (3,200 X 1,400) display with a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera and a 120Hz display refresh rate. The Mi 11 lineup is said to comprise of two models: the standard Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro, similar to every year. The main camera on the Mi 11 Pro is said to be a 50MP shooter by 4-in-1 conversion, while the telephoto lens is a 12MP snapper. It remains to be seen if it’ll be a straight 12MP lens or a 4-in-1 48MP lens. The phone is said to have MEMC video frame technology, real-time SDR to HDR, and video super-resolution. If Xiaomi is indeed planning on launching the Mi 11 later this month, we can expect the brand to start teasing the handset on social media soon.
Besides Xiaomi, Redmi, OPPO, OnePlus, ASUS, ZTE, Nubia, Sharp, and others have also confirmed to launch a phone with the Snapdragon 888 5G SoC going forward. The chipset comes with a 3rd gen Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF system that enables global compatibility of mmWave and Sub-6 across all major bands worldwide. The Snapdragon 888 5G has support for 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, standalone, non-standalone, and dynamic spectrum sharing.
