POCO M3 price and specs were announced on Tuesday and the phone succeeds the POCO M2. For a budget smartphone, the POCO M3 specifications on paper look to impress with a Snapdragon 662 SoC, 6,000mAh battery, and 48MP triple rear cameras, among other things. The POCO M3 price in India and availability details are unknown at the moment but we expect the phone to release in the country considering the brand launched the POCO M2 back in September. POCO M3 vs POCO M2: Price
POCO M3 price is set at USD 149 (approx Rs 11,000) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage option costs USD 169 (approx Rs 12,500). The phone comes in black, yellow, and purple colour options, and will go on sale from November 27th in select markets. POCO M3 India launch, price, and availability details haven’t been announced yet.
POCO M2 price in India starts from Rs 10,999, which is the price for the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM + 128GB configuration costs Rs 12,499. The phone is available for sale in the country in Pitch Black, Slate Blue, and Brick Red colour options via Flipkart.
POCO M3 vs POCO M2: Design
POCO M3 and POCO M2 both ship with waterdrop display, so they look similar front the front. However, the POCO M3’s new dual-tone look on the back gives makes it stand out from the crowd. The handset comes with a large and unique black coloured rectangular patch that houses a triple camera setup with LED flash and a rather large POCO branding. Additionally, the POCO M3 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The POCO M2, in contrast, packs centre-aligned quad rear cameras with a fingerprint scanner just below. The design of the phone is similar to some Xiaomi devices. The rest of the design language is more or less similar between the two devices. The fascia of both POCO M2 and M3 includes a nearly bezel-less screen, while the volume rocker is placed on the right spine, and the speaker grille, charging port, and headphone jack are at the bottom edge.
POCO M3 vs POCO M2: Specifications
Coming to the specifications, both POCO M3 and M2 run Android 10-based MIUI 12 out of the box and come with dual SIM support. The handsets also pack a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The major differences between the POCO M3 and M2 are the chipset, battery, and cameras. The POCO M3 is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card slot, while its predecessor gets the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage – also expandable via a microSD card slot.
The POCO M3 also gets a larger 6,000 mAh battery, compared to the 5,000mAh unit on the POCO M2. In optics, the POCO M3 features triple rear cameras that consist of a 48MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, and a 2MP macro lens for close up shots. The POCO M2, on the other hand, sports a quad-camera setup at the back that includes a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Both phones come with 18W fast charging solution, 8MP selfie camera, and connectivity features such as 4G LTE, Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, IR Blaster, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync.
Should you wait for the POCO M3?
Going by the specs on paper, the POCO M3 looks like a solid upgrade to the POCO M2 with improvements in the chipset, battery, and camera departments. The POCO M3 price is also similar to the POCO M2 and may even be more aggressive when it launches in India. It would be wise to wait for the POCO M3 India launch to find out whether it is indeed a better buy than the POCO M2.
