An iPhone 12 Pro Max teardown video posted on Chinese social networking platform Weibo has revealed details about the smartphone’s battery. It shows that the iPhone 12 Pro Max battery capacity is 3,687mAh, which is about 7.5 percent smaller than the one seen on 2019’s iPhone 11 Pro Max (which has a 3,969mAh cell). The video further shows the phone has an L-shaped battery similar to the one we saw on iPhone X three years ago. The iPhone 12 Pro Max motherboard is the same as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
Given the battery concerns with the inclusion of 5G, the iPhone 12 series doesn’t come with 120Hz refresh rate that would only increase the consumption even more. And like iPhone 12 Pro Max, the other three models in the 2020 iPhone lineup have smaller capacity batteries compared to their respective predecessors, likely because Apple expects the A14 Bionic to compensate for the lower mAh with improved power efficiency. The iPhone 12 lineup also has a ‘Smart Data Mode’ that automatically switches between 4G and 5G depending on the task.
iPhone 12 Pro Max specifications
To recall the specifications, the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display with 1,284×2,778 pixels resolution and is powered by the A14 Bionic chipset with 6GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The biggest iPhone yet has a triple camera setup with three 12MP sensors — a wide-angle lens with f/1.6 aperture, an ultra-wide-angle lens with 120-degrees FoV, and a telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom. There is also a LIDAR sensor for AR applications. The iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB model is now available in the Indian market and is priced at Rs 129,900, Rs 139,900 for the 256GB storage and Rs 159,900 for the 512GB variant.
