  • PUBG Mobile disappears from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • PUBG Mobile Lite also removed from the Google Play Store
  • The game still works if installed on your device

PUBG Mobile has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The popular battle royale game was pulled from the App Store late night on Thursday and from the Google Play Store on Friday morning following a directive by the Indian government. This means that you will not be able to install PUBG Mobile on your iOS or Android device. PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Lite, and 116 other Chinese apps were banned in India earlier this week.

It seems PUBG Mobile still works if already installed on an iOS or Android device. At the time of writing this story, we were able to play the game on our iPhone XR and OPPO F17 Pro units and saw no message in the app about the ban on the game. However, with the app now being pulled from the iOS and Android app stores, it is only a matter of time before ISPs start blocking server access to PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite.

It still remains unclear whether PUBG Mobile will work while using a VPN app like Express VPN or Nord VPN. To recall, the Indian government enforced a blanket ban on TikTok in June, which means the popular short-form video platform could not be used even after masking your IP address using a VPN.

On Wednesday, the government banned 118 Chinese apps in India, including PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Lite, VPN for TikTok, Baidu, Ludo World, Alipay, among others. All these apps will soon be pulled from both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
