Highlights
  • OnePlus 9 display specs may include an FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display and 120Hz refresh rate
  • The flagship may arrive with a Hasselblad lens
  • OnePlus 9 series launch is expected in March

OnePlus 9 series launch could happen sometime in March if past rumours are to believed. Various leaks in the recent past have revealed quite a good deal about the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro specifications. Now, noted tipster DigitalChatStation claims the OnePlus 9 display specs will be similar to that of the OnePlus 8T. This means the upcoming phone could be equipped with a Samsung E3 AMOLED display with FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels resolution) and 120Hz refresh rate. The tipster claims the panel is right below Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra’s display in DxOMark and this is why OnePlus will use the same screen on its upcoming OnePlus 9 flagship. Considering the vanilla model will be a cheaper proposition compared to the Pro variant, it doesn’t come as a surprise.

Earlier reports have suggested the OnePlus 9 will come with a triple camera system that includes a 48MP primary sensor, a 48MP secondary lens, and an 8MP third camera. There are reports the company will collaborate with Leica lens for the first time to improve the camera quality. DigitalChatStation suggests there could be an OnePlus and Hasselblad partnership, though he doesn’t explicitly mention the same.

OnePlus 9 specifications (rumoured)

The vanilla OnePlus 9 could either come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC or Snapdragon 888 chipset that is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is likely to run on Android 11 with OxygenOS custom skin on top. The phone is said to sport a 6.5-inch display, 120Hz refresh rate, an FHD+ panel, and punch-hole cutout to house the selfie camera. The handset is expected to pack a 4,500mAh battery and support 65W fast-charging. It is also reported that the OnePlus 9 may arrive with wireless charging as well, presumably 30W output. Connectivity features may include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. Other details about the phone remain a mystery at the moment but since we’re inching closer to launch, more information should surface online.
