POCO India has announced that it has broken into the list of top five smartphone brands in India by volume after the recent festive season. The company is citing IDC data for October 2020 and says that it was able to achieve this feat within the first year of the brand’s status as an independent player. POCO is placed at number 4 in the list of top smartphone brands in India, way ahead of its position in January (when it announced the standalone status). POCO X3, C3, M2, and M2 Pro are said to be the best sellers for the company through the year. POCO last month announced that it shipped a total of 6 million smartphones, with POCO F1 alone accounting for 2.2 million units. The company now has its presence in over 35 global markets.
POCO M3 is the company’s latest offering for the global markets. The phone comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card slot. It runs on Android 10-based MIUI 12 custom skin on top and has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Connectivity features could include 4G LTE, dual-band WI-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync.
As for the cameras, the POCO M3 has triple sensors at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, and a 2MP macro lens for close up shots. For selfies and video chats, there is an 8MP snapper on the front. Lastly, a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support fuels the phone. POCO M3 is priced at USD 149 (approx Rs 11,000) for the 4GB + 64GB base variant and USD 169 (approx Rs 12,500) for the 4GB + 128GB variant.
