Samsung Galaxy S21 series launch is widely believed to be in January and the flagship phones are expected to come with a bunch of upgrades under the hood. Samsung has offered some excellent displays on its phones over the years, and the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series were proof of that this year. However, these Samsung devices cannot run at 120Hz at QHD+ resolution. The functionality was to arrive on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series via a software update, but it never did. That is all set to change with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra if a tweet by tipster Ice Universe is to be believed. But it seems only the Galaxy S21 Ultra will be capable 120Hz at 2K and not the lower-specced Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series’ specifications are expected to be similar to its predecessor. Despite alleged support for fast charging at up to 60W, their battery capacities remain the same, meaning that the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ will probably come with 4,000mAh and 4,500mAh batteries, respectively. While it is technically possible to push 120Hz at 1440p (2K), it will undoubtedly take a toll on the battery life on the Galaxy S21 and S21+, which is probably why Samsung has reserved the functionality for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is expected to ship with a larger 5,000mAh battery.
Other Galaxy S21 Ultra specifications include a penta-camera array that includes a 108MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor, two telephoto lenses, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a ToF sensor. It is quite clear that Samsung has taken a page out of Huawei’s book, as the camera design is reminiscent of that of Huawei’s flagships. It shouldn’t be long before we find out, as the Galaxy S21’s Ultra release date is expected to be in January.
