Talking about the upcoming phones that will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity chipset, the executive did not share much but hinted they may arrive only next year. This means the Realme X7 series will likely be the only Dimensity-powered phones in India this year. MediaTek’s Dimensity chipsets are 5G capable at an affordable price tag and are becoming quite popular among premium mid-range phones. Anku Jain said that 5G will be beneficial for markets like India and that it’s up to the government to be in touch with telecom networks to ensure that the roadblocks for 5G spectrum auction are removed so 5G rollout in the country isn’t delayed. The MediaTek executive further added that over 70 percent of smart TVs across the globe are powered by MediaTek chipsets, which is quite a big deal.
