It’s been around three weeks since PUBG Mobile was banned in India along with 118 other apps. Following the ban, PUBG Corp said it was actively working on bringing the game back to India. The company recently broke off its ties with Tencent Games and was reportedly in talks with Jio to publish the game in the country. The Indian government is yet to revoke the PUBG ban in the country. However, what follows might disappoint PUBG Mobile fans in India. According to a report by InsideSport, who reached out to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to check the status of banned apps, the officials are in no hurry to revoke the PUBG ban in India or any other banned Chinese apps for that matter. Furthermore, the authorities have reportedly informed that things haven’t changed for PUBG or any other app on the banned list.
As per the report, ministry sources have said that a mere announcement about breaking ties with Tencent Games in India isn’t enough for the PUBG Mobile ban to be reversed. “There is no discussion within the ministry officials to revoke the ban on any of the apps listed in the ban list. We will stay away from making any comment on any specific company or app“, said the ministry source. It is clear at this stage that the Indian government is not ready to give any relaxations to any of the banned apps, including PUBG Mobile. It looks like there was no discussion in this regard as well.
It’s also learned that PUBG Corp or any other official from the company hasn’t given any representation to the ministry for unbanning the game in India. This is surprising considering the company had issued a statement a few days ago that they will reach out to the Indian government for a solution and will request to operate the game in the country while also being “fully compliant with Indian laws and regulations.” For now, it looks like PUBG Mobile may not make a comeback anytime soon. The game has been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, but still works for those who have installed it on their device.
