Apple has announced that it will finally launch the Apple Store online in India on September 23rd. The online store will offer Apple’s full range of products, including the latest iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook, iPad, and so on, along with support directly to customers across the country. Until now, customers were only able to purchase Apple products online through third-party e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. The launch of the Apple Store online this month was anticipated following a Bloomberg report last month. Apple also plans to open its first retail store in India next year.
“We’re proud to be expanding in India and want to do all we can to support our customers and their communities,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail + People. “We know our users are relying on technology to stay connected, engage in learning, and tap into their creativity, and by bringing the Apple Store online to India, we are offering our customers the very best of Apple at this important time.”
Apple Store online in India will offer financing options and a trade-in program. Students in India will be able to purchase a Mac or iPad at special prices and receive discounts on accessories and AppleCare+, the company said in a press release. Apple will also offer signature gift wrap and personalised engraving on select products. “Engraving of emoji or text in English, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu will be available for AirPods, and English engraving will be available for iPad and Apple Pencil.”
The launch of Apple’s online store in India comes ahead of the festive season as the company aims to increase its sales in the country. With student discounts and trade-in program, Apple will soon offer an easy way for customers to upgrade to the latest Apple device. The newly launched Apple Watch SE, Series 6, iPad Air 4, and iPad 8, as well as the upcoming iPhone 12 series, are expected to be available on the Apple Store online in the coming months.
